Day 1: Arrival in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro

Upon arrival in Brazil you'll be welcomed at Rio de Janeiro's international airport and shown to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your leisure, either relaxing at your hotel or getting to know the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana and the restaurants and boutiques in the nearby boulevards. Sunset in Rio de Janeiro is spectacular and Ipanema Beach offers the best views. Show more

Day 2: Christ the Redeemer city views

This morning your tour will begin with a drive through Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world. Driving through the trees you'll reach the peak of Corcovado Mountain, home to the iconic statue of 'Christ the Redeemer'. High above the city Corcovado offers spectacular views of Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf, the beaches and the ocean. Show more

Day 3: Historical center and Sugarloaf

Rio de Janeiro

Today's tour of Rio takes you to the historic city center in the morning, passing the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Candelaria Church, as well as many more of the city's important buildings. You will then be taken to the base of Sugarloaf Mountain from where you'll ride the famous cable car to the top. This amazing feat of engineering was the first cable car in Brazil, and only the third in the entire world. Show more

Day 4: Flight to the Falls

Rio de Janeiro to Iguazú Falls

After breakfast at your hotel your guide will meet you for your transfer to the airport for your flight to the spectacular Iguazu Falls on the Brazilian border with Argentina and Paraguay. With over 270 separate falls of all different sized set amidst a verdant jungle of tropical trees and colorful butterflies, Your half day tour of the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls will begin by following a short trail through the Iguazu National Park you'll be treated to a stunning panoramic view of Devil's Throat Gorge. At over 80 meters high this is the most powerful and impressive waterfall of them all. Show more

Day 5: Argentina Iguazú

After breakfast you will be met for your excursion into the Iguazu National Park to spend the day exploring the falls and the surrounding rivers and jungle. The park consists of various trails that take you through the jungle onto wooden walkways built a few meters above the jungle floor and the waterways. These raised platforms protect the natural habitat of the jungle wildlife and allow for spectacular views. Show more

Day 6: Into the Pantanal Wetlands

Iguazú Falls to the Pantanal

An early transfer takes you to Iguazu airport for your morning flight to Cuiaba, close to the pantanal wetlands. Upon arrival you will be met for the drive to your chosen Pantanal lodge. During the last section of the journey you will be traversing an elevated dirt road from where it is easy to spot wildlife in the surrounding plains and wetlands. Show more

Day 7: Exploring the Pantanal

This morning you will head out to explore the forests of the pantanal on an ecological trail hike. With the help of your guide you'll be able to spot a vast array of animals, such as capuchin monkeys and deer, while learning all about the magnificent flora and fauna of the region. After returning to the lodge for lunch you can take a gentle afternoon canoe trip across the wetlands to view the aquatic life of the waters from close up. Show more

Day 8: Pantanal Wildlife

The Pantanal Wetlands

Following breakfast at the lodge you'll take a horseback ride through the flood-lands and the forests of the pantanal. The savannah and the flooded plains of this area make for a beautiful landscape, and the open spaces are perfect for unobstructed views of an array of creatures, such as giant ant-eaters, tapirs, capybaras, deer and armadillos. Anacondas and giant otters are spotted occasionally in the area and alligators are also visible during the daytime, lazing in the sun on the banks of the rivers and lakes. Show more

Day 9: North to Beautiful Bahia

Today will be your last day in the Pantanal, and if you have not done so already we suggest an early rise to experience the dawn chorus. Those who do so will be greeted by a staggering array of bird calls, as well as beautiful views as the sky turns from indigo to gold to clear blue. Today you fly north over the beautiful coastline of Bahia in Brazil's north-east region, you'll arrive in Salvador de Bahia, the first capital of Brazil. Show more

Day 10: Beauty of Bahia

Salvador de Bahia

Today your tour begins near the bay in the streets of the lower city before reaching the Lacerda Elevator. You'll then ride the elevator to the upper city, enjoying exceptional views over Salvador's bay. The tour continues on foot through small squares and narrow streets lined with colorful colonial buildings to Pelourinho. Show more

Day 11: Island beaches

Salvador to Morro de São Paulo

Today you will have an early transfer to Salvador for your boat journey to the town of Morro de São Paulo on Tinhare Island. Traveler Service passengers will have a group transfer, whereas those in Premium Service will make the journey by private car. Tinhare Island is off of the coast of Salvador de Bahia and after your schooner crossing you'll walk the short distance from the pier to your hotel in the town. Show more

Day 12: The Beaches of Tinhare

Morro do Sao Paulo

Today is free for you to enjoy the island and its many miles of beautiful beaches, some of them almost completely deserted. The town's central plaza and the streets surrounding it are lined with restaurants, bars and boutiques, and the beaches become progressively longer and quieter the further away from the town you go. Primeira (1st) and Segunda (2nd) beaches are smaller and busier, with people sunbathing, surfing and swimming in the tidal pools, and bars and restaurants fronting the beach. Show more

Day 13: Bahian waters

Morro do Sao Paulo

Your leisurely days on Tinhare allow you to explore more of the island. Either walking or horse-riding along the miles of quiet beaches, or perhaps taking a boat trip tour to visit the tidal pools at Garapuá to the south of the island. Here you can enjoy a drink at the floating bar after snorkeling amongst the colorful tropical fish and coral reefs. Show more

Day 14: Back to the mainland

Morro do Sao Paulo to Salvador and away

Today you will take the boat back from Morro de São Paulo to Salvador de Bahia where you will be transferred either to the airport or to your hotel. If you choose to stay in Salvador tonight you could take the opportunity to catch some live music in one of the Pelourinho neighborhood bars and dine Bahian style in one of the city's many restaurants.
