Day 1: Arrival in Argentina

Upon arrival at Argentina's international airport in Buenos Aires you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to spend at your leisure, either relaxing at your hotel or exploring the city. Ask your Argentina travel specialist about a visit to Recoleta Cemetery, a beautiful historical site surrounded by parks and cafes and a busy arts and crafts market during weekends.

The tango is a passionate and intense dance and over the course of the evening you will experience one of Argentina's most beloved art forms. Day 2: Exploring the Tango Capital
Buenos Aires

After breakfast at your hotel you'll be able to head out and explore Buenos Aires. Traveler Service includes a half day tour of the capital's most important buildings and neighborhoods with one of our private local guides, including the city centre where you'll see the Obelisco and the Casa Rosada before continuing on to La Boca, San Telmo, Recoleta and Palermo. In Premium Service you will have the choice to take a peaceful guided walking tour through the elegant neighborhood of Recoleta in the morning, or experience a wine tasting in the afternoon.
Show more On the walking tour your local guide will explain the various landmarks and buildings and tell you all about the history of the area and its many architectural influences, then later in the afternoon you'll be taken back to your hotel and the rest of the day is free for you to relax. Day 3: North to Iguazu
Buenos Aires to Iguazu Falls

Following breakfast in your hotel in Buenos Aires you will be met for a private transfer to the airport for your flight to Puerto Iguazu, the small town close to the spectacular Iguazu Falls. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the town and the rest of the day will be free for you to relax in preparation for a full day of exploring the next day. Day 4: Exploring the falls
Iguazu Falls

After breakfast you will be met for your excursion into the Iguazu National Park to spend the day exploring the falls and the surrounding rivers and jungle. The park consists of various trails that take you through the jungle onto wooden walkways built a few meters above the jungle floor and the waterways. These raised platforms protect the natural habitat of the jungle wildlife and allow for spectacular views.

In the afternoon be ready for some adventure as you'll be taking to the waters to navigate the falls aboard a motor boat heading through the rapids into the Devil's Throat Canyon. (Meals B)
Day 5: Salta La Linda
Iguazu to Salta

After breakfast at your Buenos Aires hotel you'll be driven to the airport for your flight to Salta where you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. The city of Salta is often referred to as Salta La Linda (meaning Salta the beautiful) due to its well-preserved colonial architecture and year-round warm climate. In the afternoon you will take a guided city tour visiting Salta's most important buildings and churches, including the church of San Francisco and the 1762 built Convent of San Bernardo.
Show more Later in the afternoon you'll visit San Martin Park where you'll board a cable car to San Bernardo Hill for fantastic views of the city before finishing your tour at a local craft market. Day 6: The Road to the Clouds
Salta to Purmamarca

Today you will begin a two day excursion taking in many of north-western Argentina's geographical highlights. Firstly you'll take the Road to the Clouds', which follows the route of the famous railway track The Train to the Clouds', up through the Quebrada del Toro to San Antonia de los Cobres high in the mountains. The train track is an amazing feat of engineering that includes 21 tunnels, 31 bridges, 13 viaducts and 1279 bends, as it winds its way up from Salta to the Chilean border.
Show more You'll then travel along route 40 through the Puna to the beautiful Salinas Grandes (salt lakes) of Jujuy. Finally you'll drive down via Lipan to the picturesque town of Purmamarca at the base of the well-known painted hills that rise up behind the town in varying shades of rusty orange and yellow. In the evening you'll be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and enjoy dinner. (Meals B, Premium L)
Day 7: Exploring Northern Argentina
Purmamarca to Salta

After breakfast and a visit to the handicraft market in Purmamarca you'll continue your trip up through the colorful hills of the region, passing through small villages of whitewashed adobe houses and historical churches. In the afternoon you'll arrive at Humahuaca, the largest town between Jujuy and the Bolivian border. Founded in 1591 on the site of a major pre-Hispanic settlement, Humahuaca is a typical Andean colonial town with narrow streets and one storey adobe buildings.
Show more The beautiful landscapes of the nearby Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO protected world heritage site in the Sub-Andean hills, can be easily visited from the town, as well as an important folkloric museum. Day 8: Cafayate daytrip
Salta and Cafayate

After breakfast at your hotel in Salta you'll be met for your full day tour to Cafayate. Heading out of the city to the south, you'll pass through large expanses of tobacco plantations as you head towards the wine producing town of Cafayate. First stop will be at the Dique Cabra Corral, an impressive 'water mirror', before driving through the deep ravine of either the Quebrada del Rio Las Conchas, or Quebrada de Cafayate.

The last stop of the tour before returning to Salta will be at Cafayate, where you will take a tour of the town and its wine cellars, which produce the delicious 'Torrontes', a fruity white wine. Day 9: Crossing into Chile
Salta to San Pedro de Atacama

After breakfast at your hotel you'll be met for your crossing into Chile to the small town of San Pedro de Atacama. You'll be driving through some incredible landscapes as you climb up on to the altiplano and cross the border into Chile close to Bolivia. The small town of Atacama is situated at around 2435m above sea level between the high plains of the altiplano and the desert.

Today its attractive network of streets lined with adobe buildings caters mostly to the needs of the many tourists who visit to see the wealth of interesting sites nearby. Day 10: Moon Valley and the Tatio Geysers
Around Atacama

Today you will set out early on a full-day excursion into the weird and wonderful landscapes around Atacama. You'll begin pre-dawn, climbing high up to the El Tatio geyser field, the highest in the world at 4300m, and surrounded by volcanic peaks. Tatio is an incredible place and you'll spend the morning wandering between hissing and gurgling steam vents and bubbling hot mud pools of varying colors.

In the afternoon you'll visit Moon Valley, Chile's equivalent to Death Valley, where you'll spend the afternoon exploring the colorful and bizarre geology of the area. You'll be able to experience a stunning sunset over the valley before returning to Atacama. (Meals B)
Day 11: The Andean Highlands
Around Atacama

Today you'll continue your tour of the Atacama region, beginning with a visit to the fragile habitat of the Salar de Atacama, a grey-white expanse of salt flats interspersed with wetlands. The flats are temporary homes for a variety of migrating birds, including the beautiful pink flamingo. From there you'll climb slowly up to the Andean Highlands at around 4200m, where you'll walk along the shores of two piercingly blue lakes, enjoying spectacular views of volcanoes and pastel-colored wetlands reflected in their glassy waters.
Show more Back down near Atacama you'll visit the Quebrada de Jere Gorge, an oasis of carefully tended fruit trees and greenery in the midst of the desert. After a day of stunning contrasts you'll return to Atacama for the evening. (Meals B)
Day 12: Flight to Santiago
Atacama to Santiago de Chile

After breakfast you'll be met at your hotel for your transfer to the airport and your flight to Santiago de Chile. Chile's capital city has many interesting sights to see, as well as an excellent restaurant and bar scene. Upon arrival at the airport you'll be met and shown to your hotel with the rest of the day free to relax or go out and explore the city.

Day 13: City and vineyard tour
Santiago de Chile

This morning you'll have one of our local hosts to show you the city, beginning in Santiago's main avenue and visiting the impressive Government Palace. You'll then continue on foot through the lively commercial centre before visiting the famous Plaza de Armas and the Metropolitan Cathedral. The tour will finish in the artistic neighborhood of Bellavista with its market and handcraft workshops.
Show more In the afternoon, those in Premium service will be driven to the Maipu Alto region south of the city of Santiago. You'll be visiting a small, but well known, vineyard where you'll find out all about the process of winemaking, as well as having the chance to taste some of the vintages. The vineyard has 1300 acres of vines and produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Merlot and Syrah. In the evening you'll return to your hotel in Santiago and enjoy your last evening in Chile. Day 14: Leaving South America
