The Inca Trail - The Inca Trail is an extensive network of paved paths that were used to relay messages and fresh produce around the Inca Empire. The classic Inca Trail winds its way through the Sacred Valley between the Andes Mountains to Machu Picchu. In tribute to the incredible views of the mountains and the flowing Vilcanata River, the Incas built temples and royal palaces along the trail. The monuments were erected as spiritual works of art and ascend in hierarchical order culminating in the famed Machu Picchu. One of the most striking things about the classic Inca Trail is the sheer variety of landscapes and habitats that it passes through. From towering peaks, high, mountain passes, fertile valleys and high-altitude cloud forests. All along the Inca Trail hikers are greeted by incredible landscapes and some truly stunning views.
