Cusco - This high-altitude city in the Peruvian Andes was once the seat of the mighty Inca Empire. Today it is an impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the historical capital of Peru. Sacsayhuaman – In the outskirts of the city, the impressive site of Sacsayhuaman plays an important part in Cusco’s traditional celebrations. Though the site was used by the Inca people, it in fact dates back pre-Inca to 1100AD and the indigenous Killke Culture.

The historical center - Cusco is a city built around its historical ancestry and as the former capital of the Inca Empire it has a wealth of archeological monuments to explore, as well as many impressive colonial buildings. The entire city center of Cusco has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
