Praia do Forte - CAT Travel’s Praia do Forte tours take you to this charming little village in the Northern state of Bahia. With 12km of pristine beaches, waving palm trees and a fresh water lagoon, Praia do Forte is a beach-lover’s idyll. The nearby Sapiranga Nature Reserve is great for forest walks and the waters around town are perfect for snorkeling. Praia do Forte takes its name from the nearby fort built by Portuguese settlers in 1556.

The beaches – Praia do Forte has many beautiful beaches on which to while away the days, and its sheltered bay, reefs and fresh water lagoon are ideal for snorkeling.

The Tamar Turtle Project - Praia do Forte is the headquarters of the national turtle preservation program. Every year the project helps to release thousands of baby turtles into the sea up and down the coast. Visitors will be able to see giant sea turtles and, depending on the time of year, may also get to see hatchlings making their way into the ocean.
