| Itaipú Schooner |
After breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel and transferred to the Gloria Marina. Our schooner tour will take you past Sugar Loaf Mountain and east across Guanabara Bay. Niterói occupies the eastern side of the bay, across the bridge from Rio. We pass the historic fort of Santa Cruz guarding the opposite entrance to the bay from Sugar Loaf. The tropical beaches of Piratininga, Sossego and Camboinhas become progressively cleaner, quieter and more beautiful before you arrive at Itaipú Beach, where you will stop for a swim and lunch. The Morares Restaurant in the fishing village of Itaipú serves delicious seafood with views of the beautiful beach. You will return to Rio in the afternoon before being transferred back to your hotel. Tropical fruit is provided on the boat. Drinks and dessert are not included with lunch.

| Petrópolis Tour |
After breakfast, you depart for Petrópolis – a charming mountain town an hour’s drive from Rio. The tranquility of the mountains surrounding the area and the lush green jungle attracted Brazil’s first emperor, Dom Pedro I, to the region. It was here that he made his summer residence. You will visit the Imperial Museum – housed in the perfectly preserved pink palace – before continuing to the Crystal Palace. This palace was designed to grow orchids and the cathedral close by holds the tombs of the emperors. There are many other fine colonial palaces, mansions, baroque churches and ornate bridges and lamps which give the town a slightly European feel. You can travel through the squares and the parks in a horse and carriage. You will return to your hotel in Rio in the late afternoon. Lunch is included.

Jungle-covered mountains drop steeply into the blue sea, while the bay is scattered with over 300 lush tropical islands. There are thousands idyllic beaches on these islands, all with white sand, turquoise waves and lush vegetation. When you see the stage full of beautiful exotic dancers – wearing spectacular bikini-sized outfits and huge feather head-dresses – all moving at bewildering breakneck speeds to the hypnotic rhythm of the drums, you will soon appreciate why this dance is so acclaimed. You will be full of admiration for the spectacle of lights, costumes, songs and dancing. Dinner before the show is optional and after the show you will be transferred back to your hotel.
