The Amazon Ecopark is located on the banks of the Rio Taruma, one of the tributaries of the Rio Negro. Manaus is around thirty minutes down the Rio Negro which forms the Amazon River when it meets the Rio Solimões, another 10 miles downstream from Manaus. The lodge is a tourist, scientific and educational property, and contains a monkey reserve, over 9km of trails through the Amazon Jungle, streams running through the property that form natural pools, and a private river beach which is suitable for swimming. The open-air restaurant was built in the style of the communal house of a native village. It serves regional cuisine, including dishes made from Amazon fish species, as well as international food.
The lodge has 60 comfortably rustic apartments in 20 bungalows made from concrete and wood, all with separate entrances. Every apartment has its own porch and bathroom, with air-conditioning, hot showers and window-screens in all rooms. All rooms are pleasantly decorated, using indigenous artefacts to give them the flavor of the Amazon Jungle.
To aid your relaxation outside your room, there are also open areas for massage and reading.

Weather
The Manaus region is very tropical and has a warm and humid climate throughout the year with abundant rainfall between November and April. The average temperature at this time is 26°C, although it can reach 36°C.
The dry season runs from April through to October and daily temperatures can reach as high as 35°C. From time to time however, there are cold fronts that extend from the South Atlantic and drop temperatures as low as 15°C during the day and 13°C at night. It is often thought that the start of the dry season is the best time to visit Manaus as the forests are still flooded. |
