Esteros del Iberá - In the heart of the province of Corrientes, the Esteros del  Iberá are an expanse of wildlife-rich wetlands consisting of lakes, rivers and flooded swampland dotted with small islands. This fragile eco-system is the perfect habitat for a wide range of wildlife, including capybaras, caiman, deer, monkeys, wolves and otters. There is also a spectacular array of birdlife in the region from tiny humming birds to leggy herons, kingfishers and kites. The wetlands are only recently beginning to develop as a tourist destination and the few estancias that have started opening their doors to visitors offer a tranquil retreat from the modern world in this unspoiled wildlife haven.
