This fascinating half day tour of the city begins when you are collected from your hotel after breakfast. The tour primarily concerns itself with the elegant turn-of-the-century districts that earned Buenos Aires its fame as the Paris of South America. Beginning in San Telmo where you will be able to admire the beautiful colonial architecture of the birthplace of the tango before continuing to the Plaza de Mayo, with the Casa Rosada (Government House), the Nación Bank, and the Cathedral. Following this you will proceed to Recoleta and the famous Cemetery. Buenos Aires Half Day Tigre Delta Tour
This fascinating tour to the northern stretches of the city begins when you board a train at Maipú station in the suburb of Olivos. El Tren de la Costa is a modern and comfortable train which runs on the old coastal railway line built by the English in the late 1800s. You disembark the train in San Isidro where you will be able to spend some time exploring the shopping center – you will then re-embark the train and continue towards the Delta. From the Delta station you will board a panoramic catamaran and proceed to discover the many wonders of the Parana River Delta and its islets. One of the main attractions of this tour will be when you are led through the Fruit market on one of the islands – where a complex network of stalls and booths offer fruit and crafts. Following the tour you will return to Buenos Aires by train.

Fiesta Gaucho


Fiesta Gaucho Full Day
After being collected from your hotel you will be driven to an estancia outside of Buenos Aires. Upon arrival at the estancia you will be served a number of traditional empanadas – meat pasties which are either oven baked or deep fried. You will then be given a tour around the estancia and shown the many different and fascinating ways of the gaucho. Often referred as the Argentinean version of the cowboy – Gauchos have developed their own specific riding style over the centuries. The pace of the horse is gentle, with a particular easy loping canter which both horse and rider can keep up for hours if necessary. Lunch is served at long trestle tables where everybody sits down together to enjoy the famous asado with slabs of tasty beef and ribs roasted slowly over a charcoal or wood fire, preceded by chorizo sausages or morcilla (black sausage). The meat is accompanied by a variety of the best Argentinean wines. Following lunch the Gauchos demonstrate their culture and customs through a number of songs and dances – many of which you will be invited to join. Following an afternoon demonstration of Gaucho riding and herding tactics you will be served tea before being transferred to your hotel back in the city.

Colonia


Full Day tour to Colonia
The full day tour to Colonia begins in the morning when you are collected from your hotel and transferred to the harbour for your ferry ride to Uruguay. The River Plate is a vast brown of fresh water that eventually becomes the Atlantic. As the crow flies it is only forty kilometers to Uruguay and the ride there takes roughly an hour. Upon your arrival in the small and charming town of Colonia del Sacramento you will begin a tour of what is Uruguay’s most beautiful town. Constructed in 1680 by the Portuguese – the town has an age old colonial heritage and a charming architecture that dates back over hundreds of years. As the town is small it can be very easily visited on foot and this is exactly how the tour will proceed. You will be led through all of the towns most celebrated sites including the lighthouse and the ruins of an old Franciscan Convent. You will also pass over a number of old cobble street roads and past a number of old colonial houses and mansions, some of which are open to the public – such as the Casa Nacarello, now a museum as well as the Casa del Virrey. There are many museums to choose from, housed in the cool splendour of restored mansions, such as the Portuguese Museum, the Tile Museum and the Indigenous Museum. Lunch is included and served at one of the many fine restaurants in town. Following the tour you will transfer back to Buenos Aires. Full customs and immigration procedures are required on departure from both countries.

For the Dinner and Tango show you will be collected from your hotel at 8 in the evening and transferred to the Tango Club. Dinner starts immediately and last roughly two hours with the very best of Argentinean cuisine and wine available for the guests. Following the dinner the show commences. Cemetery Recoleta, Buenos Aires


Half Day Recoleta Walking Tour with Cemetery
Recoleta is perhaps the most elegant of all areas in Buenos Aires – and at its heart is the cemetery that remains one of the city’s largest tourist attractions. The tour begins at Plazoleta Carlos Pellegrini on Avenida Alvear. It is here that Embassies and Consulates occupy some of the more beautiful of Buenos Aire’s colonial buildings. The walking tour then proceeds through streets lined with colonial French architecture as it meanders its way through haute couture shops and bazaars. Parisian-style cafes and restaurants line the streets as the tour continues weaving past Recoleta’s more famous attractions. A guide will of course be explaining all the sites you pass on the tour. A number of exquisite parks can be found in Recoleta and you make your way through these before arriving at the famous Cemtery of Recoleta. The cemetery includes a rich selection of stories, artistic styles, symbols and iconography which the guide will explain to you as you pass through the many beautiful tombs that constitute the resting ground and give it such high acclaim. This exciting optional excursion involves taking a tour hour tango instruction course. Three levels of skill are available from Beginners, and Intermediate, through to Experienced. These tango classes are also a great way to meet other couples and new people interested in learning the passionate dance in Buenos Aires. The Tango teachers are the very best in all of Argentina – many of whom have taught and demonstrated the Tango overseas in Europe and the States. While each class only lasts a couple of hours you may either leave it there or return as many times as you like in order to perfect your skills. Half Day Evita Peron and the Tango
This charming tour introduces travelers to both the history of Argentina’s most famous lady and to Argentina’s most famous dance. The tour begins when you are collected from your hotel and taken directly to a tango class. For an hour and forty five minutes you will be instructed on how to dance the tango – regardless of your proficiency and experience, these classes are great for everyone. By learning a little tango and having a guide explain a little of the history of this amazing dance you will learn how the tango is basically an expression of the love of Argentinean culture – and how the product of that culture can in many ways said to be seen as Evita peron. Following the class you will proceed to the Evita Museum where the life of the late and great lady of the people is well documented. Museum Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA)

The Half Day Art tour of Buenos Aires takes one through all of the most important Art museums in the city of which there are many. At The National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA) argentine art from the past is on display. The Buenos Aires’ Jewish community is one of the largest outside of Israel and the heritage of the culture in the city is very affluent and well preserved. In order to go on this tour one needs to book in advance with passport names and particulars given in order to be granted entrance into the most important Jewish institutions the city has on offer such as the AMIA and number of synagogues. The tour begins when you are collected from your hotel and taken to the old Jewish neighbourhood of Once – close to Recoleta. You will be led around the new AMIA (the old AMIA building suffered a terrorist attack in 1994) before being led to the very beautiful and highly acclaimed Ashkenazi and Sefaradi temples. After this you will be led to where the Israeli embassy stood before the 1992 attack. Following the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel.

The tour begins by riding down to the harbor and then continuing towards the Ecological Reserve. The Reserve itself is a great way of getting out of the city and into nature. Flights last roughly half an hour and take off from close to the harbour before rising high above the city and then swooping down over specific areas. This tour takes you behind the scenes of one of the world’s most celebrated theatres. Upon your arrival at the Theatre Colon – located on the dominating 9 de Julio Avenue – you will be met and be guided around the outer extremities of this impressive building. The tour then proceeds inside where you will be able to witness the goings-on and behind the scenes life of the amazing theatre. You will witness rehearsals, be led through the different stage design areas, around the set pieces, and though the many costume rooms. The interior design of the theatre is incredibly impressive with some magnificent craftsmanship and design going into the large vaulted ceiling and iridescent chandeliers. The ceiling boasts a mural by Raul Soldi and the orchestra consists of 632 wooden armchairs laid out in careful rows, each padded with mauve velvet. The Ecological Tour takes place on the Argentinean side of Iguacu Falls. The lush Atlantic Rainforest, watered by the mist from Iguacu Falls, shelters an astonishing variety of animal and plant species. Guided walks with a bilingual guide through the jungle allow you to see thousands of species of plants with colorful butterflies, hummingbirds, parrots and toucans flying between them. As well as the ubiquitous racoon-like coatis and monkeys, you may also see sloths, anteaters, armadillos and tapirs, as all make their home in the forest. Jaguars and cayman alligators have also been spotted in the area too, but are less common owing to their shy nature.

Itaipu Dam


Itaipu Dam
Itaipu Dam is the largest hydroelectric plant in the world. It lies 20km away from Iguacu Falls on the 7th largest river in the world, the Paraná which forms the border between Brazil and Paraguay. Construction began in 1979 and cost US$20 billion while using enough concrete to build 220 Maracana Stadiums. The lake created by the damming of the river is 170km long. Tours take you around the site, which includes a small zoo with animals rescued and housed by the reforestation project. Specialized tours also take you to see inside the workings of one of the Wonders of the Modern World.

Rafting on the Iguacu River downstream from the falls is one of the best ways to appreciate the beauty of the river and its jungle surroundings. The boat floats silently 4km downstream from Banana Tree Port to Porto Canoas, allowing you to appreciate the energy of the water that makes the Iguacu Falls so spectacular. An experienced and skilled guide navigates the boat down the medium class rapids, giving you more chance to enjoy the scenery. Half of the journey is rapids, and half is calm water. This tour is only available for people over 14 years of age. Those between 14 and 17 years old need the authorization of a parent or guardian. Safety instructions and equipment are provided.

Rappelling above the Iguacu River downstream from the falls is one of the most exciting ways to view the falls from the Brazilian side. The combination of the panoramic vistas of the falls and the adrenaline-fuelled descent from the trees to the river makes this an unforgettable activity which is possible for anyone over the age of 7 to enjoy. The 55m line drops from a specially built steel platform to the bank of the river below. Experienced instructors are always on hand to make sure that even those with no previous experience can enjoy rappelling. Safety instructions and equipment are provided. Participants need to climb 350 steps to return to the platform if not combining the activity with rafting.

Bird Watching at Bird Park


Bird Park
The Bird Park is home to more than 900 birds of 150 different species in an area of subtropical forest. The majority of these are native to Brazil, but there are also breeds from Africa, Asia and Oceana on display. Breeding programs are also in place in the park for some of the one third of those species thought to be under threat. As befits a high-quality tourist attraction, visitors are able to view the birds without restrictions of cages or netting. The aviaries in the park are large enough to allow visitors to walk through freely while the birds fly around the vegetation. Hummingbirds and butterflies occupy a special section, while the reptile house contains caymans and boa constrictors.

The Paraguayan city of Ciudad del Este lies across the Friendship Bridge from the Brazilian city of Foz de Iguacu. Shopping trips to Paraguay are very popular with Brazilians and Argentineans around the Iguacu area as lower taxes make electronic goods, cameras, computers, sportswear and cosmetics far cheaper than anywhere else in the area. Transfers take places from hotels in Brazil across the bridge and the border. The crossing can be very busy, especially towards late afternoon, so the duration of trips is variable.
