This fascinating tour to the northern stretches of the city begins when you board a train at Maipú station in the suburb of Olivos. El Tren de la Costa is a modern and comfortable train which runs on the old coastal railway line built by the English in the late 1800s. You disembark the train in San Isidro where you will be able to spend some time exploring the shopping center – you will then re-embark the train and continue towards the Delta. From the Delta station you will board a panoramic catamaran and proceed to discover the many wonders of the Parana River Delta and its islets. One of the main attractions of this tour will be when you are led through the Fruit market on one of the islands – where a complex network of stalls and booths offer fruit and crafts. | Fiesta Gaucho Full Day |
After being collected from your hotel you will be driven to an estancia outside of Buenos Aires. Upon arrival at the estancia you will be served a number of traditional empanadas – meat pasties which are either oven baked or deep fried. You will then be given a tour around the estancia and shown the many different and fascinating ways of the gaucho. Often referred as the Argentinean version of the cowboy – Gauchos have developed their own specific riding style over the centuries. The pace of the horse is gentle, with a particular easy loping canter which both horse and rider can keep up for hours if necessary. Lunch is served at long trestle tables where everybody sits down together to enjoy the famous asado with slabs of tasty beef and ribs roasted slowly over a charcoal or wood fire, preceded by chorizo sausages or morcilla (black sausage). The meat is accompanied by a variety of the best Argentinean wines. Following lunch the Gauchos demonstrate their culture and customs through a number of songs and dances – many of which you will be invited to join. Following an afternoon demonstration of Gaucho riding and herding tactics you will be served tea before being transferred to your hotel back in the city.

The full day tour to Colonia begins in the morning when you are collected from your hotel and transferred to the harbour for your ferry ride to Uruguay. The River Plate is a vast brown of fresh water that eventually becomes the Atlantic. As the crow flies it is only forty kilometers to Uruguay and the ride there takes roughly an hour. Upon your arrival in the small and charming town of Colonia del Sacramento you will begin a tour of what is Uruguay’s most beautiful town. Constructed in 1680 by the Portuguese – the town has an age old colonial heritage and a charming architecture that dates back over hundreds of years. As the town is small it can be very easily visited on foot and this is exactly how the tour will proceed. You will be led through all of the towns most celebrated sites including the lighthouse and the ruins of an old Franciscan Convent. You will also pass over a number of old cobble street roads and past a number of old colonial houses and mansions, some of which are open to the public – such as the Casa Nacarello, now a museum as well as the Casa del Virrey. There are many museums to choose from, housed in the cool splendour of restored mansions, such as the Portuguese Museum, the Tile Museum and the Indigenous Museum. Lunch is included and served at one of the many fine restaurants in town. Following the tour you will transfer back to Buenos Aires. Full customs and immigration procedures are required on departure from both countries.

| Half Day Recoleta Walking Tour with Cemetery |
Recoleta is perhaps the most elegant of all areas in Buenos Aires – and at its heart is the cemetery that remains one of the city’s largest tourist attractions. The tour begins at Plazoleta Carlos Pellegrini on Avenida Alvear. It is here that Embassies and Consulates occupy some of the more beautiful of Buenos Aire’s colonial buildings. The tour begins when you are collected from your hotel and taken to the old Jewish neighbourhood of Once – close to Recoleta. You will be led around the new AMIA (the old AMIA building suffered a terrorist attack in 1994) before being led to the very beautiful and highly acclaimed Ashkenazi and Sefaradi temples. | Perito Moreno and the Catwalks with Safari Nautico |
After breakfast you will be collected for your full day’s tour of the Perito Moreno Glacier and the National Park. From Calafate you drive for roughly two hours through the immense national park. During the drive you will be able to enjoy the views, including the Corner of Sighs, where you get your first full view of the Glacier – Perito Moreno. The glacier is just over 30 kilometers long and at its edge it towers 70 meters above the walkways that slip stream around its base. The glacial movements are mighty – and every now and again with a loud crack like a gun shot, pieces of the glacier larger than houses break off and fall into the river below. These large pieces of ice then become ice bergs in the river below. After walking over measures sections of the glacier and walkways that boast delightful views of the ice formation you proceed to the Southern Arm of Lake Argentino for a boat tour on Safari Nautico. Once you have boarded the vessel you will proceed through the icebergs to the face of the glacier – stopping a safe distance away from it in order to admire it in its full glory. Following the tour you will return to Calafate where you will be transferred back to your hotel.

| Trek – Perito Moreno Minitrekking (Moderate) |
This full day tour is aimed towards medium fit to fit adventurers. From Calafate you will be collected for the two hour drive to the Perito Moreno Glacer where your trek begins. The trek up and over the glacier lasts an hour and a half – and when you reach a pinnacle on the glacial ice you are served a whiskey for your efforts. After enjoying this along with a boxed lunch you can should you wish to, strap on some crampons and scale some of the glaciers more formidable walls. The tour then leads back around a different route that is filled with glimpses of the greens and blues in cracked caverns and smoothed ice archways. The trekking is moderate and the routes chosen, while irregular, are safe and sturdy. One should make sure to pack some comfortable hiking boots for this tour as well as some protective clothing.

| Trek – Moreno Big Ice (Moderate to Difficult) |
In the early morning you set sail across the Rico Arm of Lake Argentina on board the boat Tehuelche. Upon your arrival on the opposite shore you will be met by your professional mountaineering guides. After checking the gear and selecting and fixing on your crampons, you will proceed with the guides following the lateral moraine towards the center of the glacier. After approximately an hour the pathway turns from rock to ice. You continue up a number of ridges and pass some interesting glacial sites including a number of huge moulins, crevasses, and caves. Lunch will be served on the glacier before you and your guides turn around and begin the journey back to the Lake. Apon reaching the lake you will board the afternoon boat for your trip back to Calafate. This trip is more challenging than the Perito Moreno Minitrekking and is intended for more advanced hikers. One should make sure to pack some comfortable hiking boots for this tour as well as some protective clothing.

This excursion essentially leads you from Calafate to the Uppsala Glacier – a tongue of ice that extends for over 50 kilometers. Leaving Calafate you board a Catamaran and head out through the Canal de los Témpanos – the Iceberg Channel. With a number of icebergs floating in the canal you will manoeuvre between them and be granted fascinating and unbelievable sites of ice and glacial moviment. The boat then glides along the edge of the Upsala glacier itself before making your way to Onelli Bay where you can disembark. You will then be led towards Onelli Lake – a dark and dreamlike shimmering emerald green body of water, fed by the Onelli, Bolados, Agassiz and Heim glaciers. PUERTO MADRYN

| Full Day Tour of Peninsula Valdes |
This tour begins after breakfast when you will be collected from your hotel and transported to the Peninsula. The stunning Peninsula Valdes was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site – and with a number of picturesque isthmuses and an abundance of whales, penguins, and sea lions, it is easy to see why. The first stop on the tour will be at the San José Fort regional museum. From there you travel to Caleta Valdés – a natural creek where a large population of sea elephants will be observed. You will then proceed to the small village of Puerto Pirámides where large numbers of Southern Right Whales can be seen (June to mid December). You will board a boat and try and get as close as possible to these amazing creatures as they roam the bay area. The whales seem nonchalantly inquisitive of visitors and it is not at all uncommon for them to raise a large calloused fin rises besides the boat and look up at the passengers with their deep and understanding eyes. While the whale season takes place between June and December – sea lions and sea elephants can be observed year round. Following the boat tour you will be transported back to your comfortable hotel in Puerto Madryn.

| Welsh Tea and Punta Tombo |
After breakfast you will be collected for the Welsh Tea and Punta Tombo tour. You will drive120 kilometers south of Puerto Madryn in order to view the largest colony of Magellan Penguins in South America. The best part of the reserve where the penguins are located is that you are permitted to approach the carefree penguins and roam amongst them. The Penguin season is from October to April. Following the tour around the park you will be driven to Trelew where you will undertake a guided tour of the city. The city tour does not take long but is very interesting as it leads you through the historical center and eventually to the Paleontology Museum. You then proceed to the small town of Gaiman that was built by some Welsh immigrants. It is here that you will stop to enjoy a traditional Welshe tea with cakes before continuing to Puerto Rawson where you will undertake a boat tour of the bay where whals can be seen. Following the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.

Located approximately 18 kilometers from the city of Trelew, and another 80 kilometers from puerto Madryn, the small town of Gaiman has a population of only ten thousand people. The city is made up of a number of typical traditional buildings and is situated in the Valley of the Chibut River. Most of inhabitants are generally farmers, which adds to the tranquil flare of the small community. The tour leads through all of Gaiman’s more famous sites and takes in a few of the historical buildings before leading you to a small traditional Welsh styled restaurant where tea and cakes are served. Following tea you will be transferred back to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.

This tour is perfect for those who wish to get a more complete picture of the Peninsula and its surroundings as it introduces passengers to the complete wildlife of the region – without having to take them all the way to Punta Tomba in order to see the Penguins. The tour begins when your guides pick you up on the morning from your hotel and proceed to take you around the complete Peninsula of Valdes. The trip includes a visit to Puerto Pirámide where you will be invited to board a small boat before heading out into the bay to do some whale watching. You will also visit Caleta Valdés in order to see sea elephants and then head to Punta Norte reserve where it is ocasionaly possible to see wild orcas. From here you will continue to San Lorenzo Sheeping Station, which is commonly called ‘the land of penguins’. This section of the trip is done in 4x4 and should you wish you can continue down towards Punta Delgada and take a short trek around another sea elephant colony. After being collected from your hotel in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle you will proceed out of town and into the Patagonian desert. In the middle of no where you will make a stop in order for your guide to explain a little about the flora and fauna found in the area. Following this short explanation you continue along to the coast along some rough roads. Upon reaching the coast you will drive up a small mountain called Cerro Avanzado where a number of old fossils were found – many of which can still be seen laying about the place. From the top of the Cerro you will be driven down and along the spectacular landscape of the Punta Loma Coastline. For lunch you will stop at San Guillermo farm where a delicious traditional Patagonian meal awaits you. The food consists of Patagonian lamb and beef with salads and wines. Following lunch you will be given a sheep shearing demonstration before you climb once more into the 4x4 and begin your journey back to Puerto Madryn where you will be transferred to your comfortable hotel.

| 4 Wheel Drive to Punta Ninfas |
This tour takes you to what is possibly one the best viewpoints in the entire region. You will be collected at your hotel by a 4x4 vehicle and will then be guided down the Peninsula to the entrance of the Golfo Nuevo. Upon reaching Punta Nifas – situated about 90 kilometers Southwest of Puerto Madryn, you will be greeted with spectacular views over the entire waterways and channels that make up the Peninsula. You will then proceed directly down to the coast in the 4x4 until reaching the El Pedral beaches. Your guide will then take you on a walk across a few of the beaches and show you a number of strange and ancient sea fossils that can be found scattered about the place. You will be able to visit the lighthouse and marvel at its austerity. The beaches around Punta Ninfas are remarkably excluded and are the perfect habitat for the areas many sea lions, sea elephants and bird life – including a number of petrels, penguins, and albatross. If the season is right it is easy to spot whales from the lonely beaches. Following your tour around the area you will climb back into the off road vehicle and return to Puerto Madryn where you will be dropped off at your comfortable hotel.

| Scuba Diving in the Peninsula |
Puerto Madryn is considered the Capital of Diving in Argentina and it is visited all year round by local and international divers for its clear waters and varied sea-fauna. A number of different diving options exist in the area ranging from deep sea scuba diving to off the beach snorkeling. Please take special note that Diving with the whales is not possible. The park protects the movements of the whales in the area and diving with the animals is strongly forbidden. However, the crystal blue waters of the area – while cold – make the ideal diving environment – and the many interesting forms of underwater marine life make the area a paradise for divers from around the world.
