River Lakes and Pink Dolphins |
Waking up to the sounds of bird chatter and the buzz of the jungle in the Yarapa Lodge is an unforgettable experience. After waking up you’ll be able to admire views over the Yarapa River while enjoying some of the lodge’s delicious jungle breakfast options. A variety of fascinating types of wildlife are usually seen on this tour including giant river otters, pygmy marmoset monkeys, sloths, and the occasional anaconda. Most impressive of all however are the pink river dolphins that often approach the boat in a playful pod – the sight of these amazing creatures so close is a truly unforgettable experience. You will return to the Lodge for lunch following which you will be led on a guided trail through the surrounding jungle where one of Yarapa’s experienced guides will explain the very many types of flora and fauna you come across as well as the many different healing qualities different jungle plants are believed to contain. Village Visits and Giant Lilies |
On the morning of the third day you will once again rise to the wild and wonderful sounds emanating from the surrounding jungle before enjoying a delicious breakfast. Following your meal you will board a boat and head off to explore the amazing giant lilies of the Amazon. Some of these lilies are so large that they can purportedly hold a child. It is quite common on this tour to spot the interesting Hoatzin Bird. With a reptilian screech and the fact that Hoatzin fledglings have claws on the midriff of their wings, scientists have linked this fascinating bird to the prehistoric Pterodactyl. Following your tour of the lily area you will return to the lodge for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon you will be led to an authentic native Indian community close to the lodge where a village elder will sit and explain - with the help of a translator - the daily goings on of life in the village. It is possible to purchase souvenirs and handicrafts in the village such as traditional blow dart guns that are still used today for the purpose of hunting. Later in the afternoon you may explore the rivers surrounding the lodge in special dug our canoes. Following dinner you may accompany one of the guides on a special nocturnal caiman spotting adventure. (Meals - B, L, D) |
