Cusco to Manu
Cusco and Manu travel with Class Adventure Travel
You will be collected from your hotel after breakfast and transported to the airport where you will board a light aircraft for your flight to Boca Manu. The flight takes roughly half an hour and upon arrival in Boca Manu you will be transferred to the docks where you board a speed boat to the Manu Wildlife Center. Passing through the protected reserve on the way to the lodge is a breath-taking experience as most of Manu is truly virgin rainforest. Upon arrival at the Manu Wildlife Center you will be met by the staff and shown to your comfortable room. Following brief tour of the lodge you will be served lunch in the attractive dining area before spending the rest of the afternoon exploring the spectacular jungle trails around the lodge with an expert guide. Large amounts of wildlife inhabit the area and the guide will take his time explaining the habits of each of the animals you come across. In the late afternoon you return to the lodge and in the evening you after dinner, you can should you wish to do so, undertake a guided nocturnal walk around the area. ( L, D)

Manu Wildlife Center and the Claylicks

Following a pre-dawn departure from the lodge you will be lead towards the only large parrot and macaw clay-lick in the Manu area. The trip there takes around half an hour and upon reaching the site you will be able to observe the congregation of macaws camouflaged behind a specially mounted blind on a river catamaran. Please note that the best time to visit the clay-lick is from August to October. Following lunch back at the lodge you will once again be guided around one of the many trails surrounding the lodge before being lead up the Lodge's 34 meter high canopy platform where the view of the surrounding jungle and all of its pre-sunset activity is spectacular. In the evening you will return back to the lodge and after dinner depart once more for a night walk to the 's largest known tapir lick. Sitting atop the specially constructed 6 meter high observation platform and armed with a powerful flashlight, you can observe numbers of tapirs gathering together around their clay-lick. Manu Wildlife Center and the Ox Bow Lake

Following an early breakfast you will leave the Center and head out towards the Blanco Oxbow Lake by boat. The Lake itself boasts a wide array flora and fauna. It is not uncommon to come across the amazing hoatzin bird in the area. Owing to its fledgling's claws on its midriff wing, it has been linked to the ancient pterodactyl. The hoatzin's link to prehistoric beasts is further emphasized when hearing its call which sounds oddly like a velociraptor. If you are lucky you may also come across a family of giant otters in the area. After returning to the Center for a delicious lunch you will once again be given the opportunity to undertake a guided tour along the trails in the area. Alternatively - you ca should you so please, venture out upon these jungle paths without a guide and explore the area a little on your own. In the evening after enjoying dinner back at the center you will be taken out for a nocturnal walk where you will be able to spot caimans floating idly by the river banks. ( B, L, D)

Once again you will rise early and immediately head off towards the Camungo Oxbow Lake on a motorized canoe. This beautiful lake is the perfect place to let oneself go, relax, spot some impressive wildlife, and take some amazing pictures while succumbing to the subtle charms of the . A large family of giant otters resides in the area and is quite commonly spotted along with other jungle fauna. You will also be taken atop a 40 meter canopy tower that overlooks the lake and is host to some spectacular views over it and the surrounding jungle. On clear days one can see the snow capped Andes in the distance over an expanse of electric green. Following lunch back at the center you will again be lead around the jungle trails, this time the guide will place special emphasis on explaining th jungle fruits, and vegetables as well as the many healing properties of different jungle plants. In the evening you may return to the tapir-lick, should you like to do so, in order to once again witness the magic of this special place. Alternatively you may relax around the lodge on your last night in the area. ( B, L, D)

Manu back to Cusco

Following breakfast you will board a motorized canoe for your trip back to Boca Manu. Upon arrival in the jungle town you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Cusco where you will either be transferred to your hotel or will catch a connecting plane onwards to your next destination.
