| The Tambopata Research Center is located in the middle of the 700 000 hectare Tambopata Nature Reserve and is the most ecological and isolated lodge in the area. It takes two days to reach the lodge – clients will either stay in the very exclusive lodges of Posada Amazonas or Refugio Amazonas on the way there and back depending on availability. Owing to the remoteness and isolation of the lodge, wildlife is far more prominent in the area; many endangered species thrive in the lodge surroundings.
The Center has thirteen comfortable yet rustic rooms – all constructed using traditional methods which both gives the lodge a very jungle like ambiance and of course reduces the environmental impact of the lodge on its surroundings.
Staff are very well informed about the jungle, and are very friendly and happy to show clients around and help out however they can.
The presence of scientists in the lodge is great for visitors to the TRC who can learn all about the biological research going on in the area. Lastly the lodge is close to the World’s largest Macaw clay-lick which makes the lodge popular with bird lovers and nature enthusiasts.
Meals
Meals at the lodge are tasty and combine both Peruvian and International cuisines. The dining hall is a great place to get to know the other guests, the staff, and of course the researchers. Vegetarians are also welcome with a vegetarian menu also available.
