Puerto Maldonado and Reserva Amazonica travel with Class Adventure Travel
Arriving in Puerto Maldonado, you will be met by one of our friendly representatives who will transfer you through the small jungle town to the port. If time permits you may be led through the Amazonian market to pick up a few jungle trinkets en route. The trip by boat takes roughly 45 minutes and upon arrival in Reserva Amazonica you will be met by the lodge staff and a welcome drink. Following a tour around the lodge you will be given time to settle in to your cabaña. A member of the staff will discuss safety at the camp and you will decide on a schedule for all of your optional activities for your stay. You will then be able to enjoy a buffet lunch in the dining room which has a panoramic view over the surrounding jungle. In the afternoon you may undertake a guided walk along the botanical trail while a specialist guide explains the many vivid plants you pass. You may also visit the famous monkey island where over 5 species of monkeys are commonly seen - including the black and white capuchin monkeys. Following a delicious dinner you can choose to leave the camp for a caiman spotting night walk. (Meals – L)

Reserva Amazonica and the Canopy Walk
Reserva Amazonica travel with Class Adventure Travel
After waking up to your first morning in the Rainforest, you will be invited to enjoy a breakfast in the dining room while the squawks and squabbles of various jungle birds filter through the lodge. After eating, you will drift down the mighty Madre De Dios River by boat as you make your way to the Rolin Island and Rolin community. The flora and fauna on this island can be spectacular and as you may come across the occasional capybara and monkey – your guide will explain the many different uses and healing properties of the jungle plants you walk past. You will arrive at the Rolin Island community and be met by the many kind and friendly faces that appear to greet you. After an explanation on Rolin culture and how life works on this island you will visit a school that has recently been set up for the community’s children. You return to the lodge and enjoy a delicious lunch before undertaking a Wetland and Canopy excursion. Primarily you ascend tree top towers and cross swinging bridges with terrific views over the jungle life beneath. Following the canopy tour you proceed to the wetlands to learn about the floodable ecosystem and if you are lucky you may see the strange Hoatzin. This odd bird has prehistoric characteristics and shares some similar traits to the ancient Pterodactyl. In the evening you return to the lodge and following dinner you may watch a presentation about life in the jungle. (Meals – B, L, D)

Reserva Amazonica & the Tambopata Nature Reserve
Reserva Amazonica travel with Class Adventure Travel
Following a delicious buffet breakfast you can take a tour of the Tambopata Nature Reserve. Crossing the mighty Madre de Dios River you walk through some stunning virgin rainforest where you have a very good chance of seeing a number of monkeys and perhaps even a capybara. After an hour or so of walking, you come to Lake Sandoval. The calm waters of this lake make this an ideal home for giant river otters and caimans. With luck you may even see the occasional Hoatzin. Following this you continue upon the trail through the jungle before arriving at the Concepción farm a couple of hours later. A number of medicinal plants are farmed here by a group of Shaman from across the area. One of the Shaman will take the time to explain the many different medicinal properties of the plants on the farm. There is also a clay-lick on the farm where one can see a number of macaws. The group then boards some canoes in order to paddle around the Cochas ecosystem – a series of depressions that makeup a wetland ecosystem. Following your time on the Cochas you return to the lodge by boat. You have the rest of the afternoon and evening to spend at your leisure. Following dinner you may wish to attend another of the lodge’s jungle presentations. ( B, L, D)
